Syracuse, N.Y. — Onondaga County reported 19 newly confirmed coronavirus cases in the past day, according to County Executive Ryan McMahon.
Of those 19 infected people, 37% showed no symptoms of Covid-19, McMahon tweeted this afternoon.
The county has reported no deaths since Wednesday. A total of 194 people have died related to Covid-19 in Onondaga County, the data show.
Overall, the county has confirmed 3,259 coronavirus cases. Today’s infection rate was at 1%, McMahon wrote.
Today’s numbers reflect a trend over the past week that shows serious cases, new cases and new deaths are all relatively low.
During the past seven days, new cases have ranged from 22 to 11 per day. Each day, about half a dozen people are in an intensive care unit. The county’s positive test rate has been around or under 1% in recent days.
Today 38 people are in the hospital, including six in an intensive care unit.
Eight of those 19 new cases were related to travel to Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia and New Jersey, McMahon wrote.
Of today’s new 19 cases:
- 6 people were already in quarantine;
- 7 were from community spread, including 4 where transmission could be traced;
- 2 people became infected through household contact;
- 1 case is related to a senior living facility;
- 8 cases are related to travel.
One case is still being investigated, according to McMahon.
